Commander Receives the Highest Alumni Award of Philippine Defence

National Defence College Philippine (NDCP), one of the most recognized
higher military academic institutes in the world presented its Award
for the Most Outstanding Student of the year 2010 to Major General
Mahinda Hathurusinghe of the Sri Lanka Army considering his performances
during Masters in National Security Administration (MNSA) Course
2008/2009 and commitment to humanitarian work being executed for
the benefit of People in Jaffna.
The award was presented to Maj. Gen. Hathurusinghe by the Vice President
Republic of Philippine His Excellency Jejomar C. Binay during the
Alumni Meeting 2010, an annual event of the NDCP held at Armed Forces
Headquarters in Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City, Manila on 13th August.
The most outstanding alumnus is adjudged by a special panel consisting
of senior academics considering his higher performances during academic
years at the University and the panel also reviewed the yeoman service
rendered by the recipient to the Jaffna community in the aspect
of humanitarian services as the Commander Security Forces-Jaffna.
Maj. Gen. Mahinda Hathurusinghe was a student of the 44th MNSA Course
conducted by the NDCP since its inception in 1966 and he also won
the Golden Pen Award for the best student at the end of the course.
