Commander SF-J Pledges Support to New Jaffna GA
[Updated :: 2010-07-15 23:45:32 Hours]

Ms. Imelda Sukumar, upon her assuming the office as the new Government Agent and District Secretary Jaffna, paid a courtesy call on Commander Security Forces-Jaffna (SF-J) Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe in his office at Palaly on Thursday (15.07.2010).

Having accorded a warm welcome at the Headquarters SF-J, Ms. Sukumar, a senior administrative officer with 26 year experience in the field of civil administration, had a formal discussion with the SF-J Commander on matters which require close coordination between administrative and military authorities in developing Jaffna while providing a superior service to its people.

During the discussion, the new GA expressed her satisfaction over the contribution of the Army towards the reawakening of Jaffna so far and reminded Maj. Gen. Hathurusinghe of the support he extended as the Commander Security Forces-Kilinochchi to her when she was the GA for Mullaitivu and Kilinochchi.

Elaborating the great responsibility she has in rectifying some existing irregularities of the administrative machinery in Jaffna, Ms. Sukumar requested the same support form the SF-J Commander in executing her duties as the Head of Civil Administration in Jaffna to establish an effective and efficient administration.

Ms. Sukumar was the GA Mullaitivu until she took over the office of GA Jaffna on Tuesday (13) succeeding Mr. K. Ganesh who retired as the senior most District Secretary after 32 years of service of Sri Lanka Administrative Service.
