Gnanavairavar Hindu temple at Vasavilan south within the Palaly High Security Zone (HSZ) Jaffna held its annual Pooja on Sunday 4th of June after many years with participation of a large crowd of devotees residing in neighbouring areas.

The kovil remained isolated in absence of civilians due to security restrictions however in response to a request made by Chief Kurukkal, Commander Security Forces-Jaffna Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe took steps to relax the restrictions for devotees aspiring to recommence their religious performance at the Gnanavairavar Hindu temple.

Prior to commencement of the ceremony, Army troops of the 515 Brigade cleaned the kovil building, its surrounding and the access route to make the place suitable for veneration.

Further, Army arranged water and other necessary facilities at the kovil premises for civilians entering the HSZ for religious purposes.

Army officers and other ranks serving in the area were present during the ceremony.
