Minister & Commissioner General in Jaffna to Meet Reintegrated

Over one thousand ex-LTTE members who were reintegrated with society
after an intensive rehabilitation programme conducted by the government
got an opportunity on Saturday (10.07.2010) to submit their grievances
before responsible administrative authorities during a mobile service
conducted by the Ministry of Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms.
A team of senior officials of the Ministry headed by Hon. Minister
in charge of the Portfolio Mr. DEW Gunasekara, Hon. Deputy Minister
Mr. Vijithamuni de Zoysa and Army officers of the Bureau of Commissioner
General Rehabilitation (BCGR) personally listened to the problems
of about 1400 beneficiaries now leading a normal life in their own
residential areas when they met each other at the Thelippali Divisional
Secretariat on Saturday.
Solutions were given to many instantly while the Minister ordered
his officers to collect other necessary data in black and white
so that they could be coordinated with respective institutions and
solved at the earliest possible.
At the same time, three girls and four boys of Vavuniya welfare
centres who were qualified to enter the University were handed over
to the Vice Chancellor Jaffna University Prof. M. Shanmugalingam
by Commissioner General Rehabilitation Brigadier Sudantha Ranasinghe.
According to statistics of the BCGR, over 3000 ex-LTTE members had
been reintegrated after rehabilitation.
Ministerial delegation comprised secretaries and senior officials
of respective departments. Government Agent Jaffna Mr. K. Ganesh,
Divisional Secretaries in Jaffna and senior officers of the BCGR
were present on the occasion.
The mobile service was due to be held in Kilinochchi and Vavuniya
on Sunday (11) and Monday (12) respectively.
