[Updated :: 2010-05-19 07:05:25 Hours]

Most of public places in the northern city of Jaffna on Tuesday (18.05.2010) glittered with National Flags hoisted by rejoiced Jaffna populace to celebrate the first year that ushered new freedom of life eliminating terrorism entirely from the island after three decades.

The Lion Flags were seen flying roof-tops of government buildings, private institutes, shops and houses on either side of main roads and byroads in Jaffna city and main towns in the peninsula signifying first anniversary of victory over ruthless terrorism.

Ordinary people in the Jaffna peninsula suffered deeply from the curse of LTTE terrorism which plunged their lives to great misery.

It was the heroic Armed Forces that liberated them from the clutches of LTTE and in turn they showed their gratitude by hoisting National Flag at many places in Jaffna.
