Houses Constructed by Jaffna Troops Handed over to Their Owners

In support of the government’s development programme for the north “Uthuru Wasanthaya (Wadakkin Wasantham)”, Security Forces Headquarters-Jaffna (SFHQ-J) has launched a range of humanitarian projects for the welfare of people in Jaffna.

As a part of the housing project initiated by the SFHQ-J for civilians displaced due to LTTE activities, 29 permanent houses under 680 houses programme at Navaladi, Ariyalai were handed over to respective recipients by Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Commander SF-J on Wednesday (07.04.2010).

Those houses were constructed with labour of the troops attached to 15th Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard and 7th Battalion Sri Lanka Armoured Corps deployed under the command of 51 Division.

Maj. Gen. Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Chief Guest of the event, distributed kitchen utensils for each house and parcels of school items to school children of those families.

Jaffna Bishop Rev. Dr. Thomas Soundranayagam, Brigadier General Staff SF-J Brig. B.C.J.A.F. Rodrigo, Jaffna High Court Judge Mr. E.T. Vignarajah and a section of dignitaries were among those who were present.
