Families of Thirty One Ex-LTTE Members Gifted with Release of Their Relatives on New Year Day

Handing over the released personnel to their next of kin took place during the “Soorya Mangalya or Puthuwaruda Kaliyadam” (Festival of the Sun) 2010 organized to coincide the Sinhala and Hindu New Year at the historical Jaffna Fort.

Nine boys and three girls hoping to recommence their school education and two more girls qualified for university education were among the latest released batch.

The ceremony graced by the Commander Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna (SFHQ-J) Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe as Chief Guest was attended by religious and community leaders including Government Agent Jaffna Mr. K Ganesh.

Brigadier General Staff SF-J Brigadier B.C.J.A.F. Rodrigo and a section of senior Army officers were also present on the occasion.
