Visa Application Office Now Open in Jaffna

A new bureau to assist Jaffna civilians hoping to travel to India
commenced its functioning on Wednesday (05.05.2010) at No 89, Brown
Road, Jaffna.
This “India-Sri Lanka Visa Application Centre” was declared open
by His Excellency Ashok K Kantha, Indian High Commissioner to Sri
Lanka at a brief ceremony attended by a gathering of distinguished
guests.
Panel of officials representing Indian High Commission in Colombo
will collect Visa applications of people at this new centre and
send them to Colombo Visa office which will hopefully complete the
processing applications within three working days. Necessary guidance
in preparing and submitting applications are also provided by this
office in order to avert the delay occurred in following wrong procedures
by applicants.
The HC during his address said that even people from other areas
in the north will also be benefited by opening of this new Visa
Centre which possibly strengthen social, religious, economic and
education linkage between the two countries.
Members of Parliament representing Jaffna, Officials of the Indian
High Commission in Colombo, Senior Administrative, Military and
Police officers were present on the occasion.
